Week Eleven NASCAR Update!

Hoo boy! NASCAR was in Darlington, SC this weekend at Darlington Raceway. This track started hosting NASCAR races back in 1950. It has a real funky configuration in that it was originally designed to be a “paper clip” shaped track, but one end got squeezed because the owner of a nearby minnow pond refused to relocate his pond.

Note the minnow pond… top right.

This resulted in two totally different ends of the track…. a nightmare for crewchiefs in trying to set up the cars… makes for exciting races, though!

A bunch of drivers ran both the Nationwide and Sprint Cup series races this weekend. Shit… lots of drivers drive both races every weekend. But all the advertising was geared towards only one of the “double duty” drivers. Danica! This aggravates me, because she’s average at best as a racecar driver. NASCAR is doing everything they can to make her the “face” of the sport… Sorry fans, she’s only the tits and ass of the sport.

For Friday night’s Nationwide race, Danica qualified fifteenth and somehow passed three cars all night to finish twelfth. She is not aggressive at all; a very boring driver to watch.

Austin qualified third and somehow got passed a couple times for a fifth place finish. This kid is a tough, consistent driver. I figure he’ll be the first of my featured three to win a race this year.

Joey Logano won Friday’s race. It’s his second straight win and third of the season.

Saturday night’s Sprint Cup race was pretty good… except for the fact that the cheatin’ ass Jimmie Johnson won the race after leading the most laps. I don’t like him at all. He’s boring… and their team cheats… and his wife looks like the chick from “Carrie”.

Dude can’t even do a proper burnout….

Danica Patrick was in this race, though she didn’t even try to compete. This was her second Sprint Cup race since Daytona; when she wrecked. She hung back and tried to stay out of trouble… that seems to be the way she wants to race. She qualified sixth slowest and finished in thirty first, six laps down. BUT SHE’S STILL HOTTT!

Dale Jr. struggled in this race, like he normally does at Darlington. He qualified 24th and finished 17th. Dale’s not the smartest dude and a tricky track like Darlington troubles him.

Numbers after week ten:

Starts Wins Top 5 Top 10 Avg. Start Avg. Finish
9 0 5 7 5.0 7.7

Starts Wins Top 5 Top 10 Avg. Start Avg. Finish
10 0 4 8 14.5 8.4

Starts Wins Top 5 Top 10 Avg. Start Avg. Finish
9 0 0 1 17.3 19.9
The NHRA is back next week, racing in Topeka, KS. NASCAR will be at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, NC, for the All Star race… so, sadly, there will be no Danica. Just kidding! The Nationwide Series is racing at Iowa Speedway next Sunday.
