Dealing With Union “Professionals”…

My children attend Brunswick schools, which are public schools and in case you didn’t know, public schools employ union teachers. They’re all members of the American Federation of Teachers, led by this guy woman person…

Randi Weingarten

… Randi Weingarten. Here’s a fun fact: Randi makes over $400,000 a year as a union leader! That’s like 9 times the average teacher’s salary in this country! That’s some nice coin!

Another AFT fun fact: Leaders and their sheep-like members contribute heavily to (and obviously vote for) Democrat politicians, including this current administration that’s about to start a shitstorm by attacking Syria (and Russia & China by association).

Oh well, right? The above weren’t the points I wanted to make while writing this.

The American Federation of Teachers claims to be a “A Union of Professionals” on their website. Well here’s an example of how professional one of their members are. I received the following email the other day:

I am writing to let you know that Alexis did not turn in his problem of the week. It was due Friday and counts as a take home quiz and counts for 6 points. There will be 5 of these types of assignments this quarter. They will end up being the equivalent of one test. Should your son/daughter choose to not do the other four assignments when they are issued, it will be extremely difficult for him to earn a decent grade this quarter.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Mr. Deebagh

Couple things to point out about this email…

  1. The daughter mentioned in the email was in his class three years ago.
  2. He referred to her as a male.

So I replied…

Hi Mr. Deebagh,

You’re referring to Brooke, correct? We worked on some homework Thursday evening, and I believe she completed it. We’ll make sure to touch base with her to find out what happened.

Thanks for the heads up.

Here is his reply…

Ty for the correction, sorry for that.

Sometimes the former student’s memory is so fresh that I have to reprogram myself. Alexis can still receive partial credit if I receive it tomorrow.

Mr. Deebagh

DUDE! You really just said, “Ty for the correction…”? Type the words out, man! We’re not texting, here, and even if we were I’d expect proper spelling and grammar from a member of a “union of professionals.” Then you screwed up again by naming the wrong child; a child that was, again, in your class three years ago!

Turns out, Brooke DID turn the assignment in on Friday and Mr. Deebagh was merely “confused.”

Go figure… That’s your tax dollars at work, people!
