Monday Moanin’ ~ Packers 31 Browns 13…

Weeden Packers

Just read this stat line a couple times…

17 of 42 for 149 yards, 1 TD and 1 interception.

17 of 42 for 149 yards, 1 TD and 1 interception.

That’s Brandon Weeden yesterday at Green Bay. Weeden absolutely blows. And it’s not just from time to time, he’s consistently horrible.

He’s played in 20 games for the Browns now. Career stat line?

400 of 712 for 4,539 yards, 19 TDs and 23 interceptions. He didn’t throw a TD in 7 of those games; threw at least one pick in 12 of ’em.

He has only 6 wins under his belt in those 20 games. His derpy QB play spans two coaching staffs…

Last year I slammed former Browns coach Pat Fucking Shurmer…

…on a nearly weekly basis. I condemned him for not using Weeden correctly; playing to his strengths.

Now, some are implying that this current coaching staff is part of the problem; not playing to Weeden’s strengths. I don’t buy that. Weeden’s only strength is throwing the ball really hard. That’s why the NY Yankees drafted him way back in 2002!

I don’t watch much baseball at all, but when I do I notice how the pitcher holds onto the ball until they get a signal from their catcher… then they throw the ball really hard. Oh yeah, the catcher usually isn’t running a route; they just squat behind the plate.

What we’ve got here in Cleveland is a pitcher trying to play QB. Dude holds onto the ball WAY to long and then throws it 170 MPH; usually off target… It’s never gonna work. The NFL game is just too fast for Weeden.

Yeah… our defense let us down yesterday, as well. I like to say they get tired after the offense sputters on short drives. But a fresh defense gave up an early TD to Packers TE Jermichael Finley. I believe Finley bounced off three Browns defenders on his way into the endzone.

Maybe our coaches contributed to yesterday’s loss a bit… They could’ve tried to run the ball a bit more I suppose.

Weeden is the beginning of all the Browns’ problems, however…
